Biases aside do you think that Paul and New Orleans have a chance to beat the juggernauts of the west? Will Illinois' Redeem Team (Utah) ever become a legitimate cointender and what moves are necessary to do so? If you believe that Selig is stopping the Cubs sale what do you speculate is the reasoning behind it?

Great piece on the Bulls here, I don't follow the NBA (aside from what I hear on sports radio), but this here is an enjoyable read my sir.

You probably don't want to turn this to a all baseball/Cubs blog, but what are your thoughts on Peavy/Cubs/Atlanta?
I'm assuming now that the Cubs traded their #3 prospect, closer Ceda, we can't offer anything to the Padres. I thought with Trevor Hoffman on the way out, Ceda was the one strong bargaining chip the Cubs had. Maybe Theriot, Marshall, and Ceda? Silver lining is that’s one less back-loaded contract for the Cubs to eat (I think Peavy’s getting 20mil+ his last contract year).
Anyway, I follow your posts regularly, hope your doing well in San Fran…

I will have to say that I was expecting a lot more from the World Series. I mean the way it was shaping up wasn't how it played out.

I agree though that Tampa Bay will be set for the next couple years. I actually think they will be better considering they made it to the World Series and now can use that experience to better prepare next time(If there is one).

I just hope that what happened to the Rockies won't happen to the Rays.

If it were the NBA, maybe we'd see somebody get ejected for getting hit by a pitch. Baseball though, I can't see how the Umps can't give the Rays much edge without being obvious about it.

The Rays will win tonight so Obama can show his commercial and delay the start of game 6. Too much money on the line for Fox and MLB

I wasn't surprised to see the Rays lose game one with Cole Hamels on the mound. I figure in this series every time he pitches the Phillies will win. It's going to be up to the other pitchers on the team to step up if they won't to win this series.

I'd love to see Manny in a Cubs uniform, but Soriano's contract is almost unmovable.

Hendry's had his good moments, his trades for Ramirez, Kenny Lofton and Russell Simon in 2003 were a big part of the reason the Cubs went to the playoffs that year. But his decisions have also depleted a farm system that was brimming with talent just a few years ago, and the back-loaded & no-trade contracts he's signed have now tied their hands regarding the on-field talent.
